The Economic Times released an article “What are solar light panels and how do they work” (2019) explained to the public the purpose, application, and features of solar light panels. The solar light panels consist of a photovoltaic module (PV) that is assembled with multiple solar cells, which are made of crystalline silicon. It is widely used for “residential and commercial lighting purposes (The Economic Times, 2019)”. Solar Energy is harvested when the panel is exposed to direct sunlight and energy will be absorbed by the PV cells and forms electrical charges which travel along the internal electrical field inside the cell, creating electricity. The electric current that was created will flow towards the inverter which converts direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC) that was widely used in households and businesses (Solect, n.d.). Subsequently, the electric current will flow through another wire into the electrical panel known as the breaker box (Solect, n.d.). Its functions are to distribute the electricity throughout the building and act as a fuse when a large amount of current flow through. The solar light panels are sturdy and deteriorate at a very slow pace. “Across a full year, the effectiveness of these panels reduces by a mere one-two percent or less. (The Economic Times, 2019). Additionally, unlike burning fossil fuels, energy generated by solar light panels does not generate harmful gases that pollute the air. It also comes in all shapes and sizes that will accommodate the user’s needs. Solar Light Panels brings a lot of benefits such as reducing electrical cost, reducing the effects of global warming, able to be used in powering building, cars, or even traffic signs. With the increase in greenhouse gases every year, adopting a renewable energy source such as solar energy will slow down the effects of global warming which benefits humanity.
